'America's Pastime' didn't actually originate here in America. In fact there is evidence that can be traced back to parts of Europe and even Russia as far back as the 1300's of similar type games being played. Baseball can be traced back to the 1700's here in America to informal games that were played much more aggressively with few rules and even fewer rules regarding the equipment that could be used, specifically the bats used for batting. The baseball bat had no particular model.
Men used homemade baseball bats that were sometimes long, short, heavy, or even flat. This seemingly simple tool would not be perfected for quite some time. The first rules of the game set by an organization were laid out in 1845 by the amateur New York Knickerbockers. This was a team that was created as a social club for the upper middle classes of New York City. The club members were led by Alexander Cartwright, who is actually credited with being the 'father' of baseball which is widely misunderstood to have been Abner Doubleday.
Louisville Slugger
The Knickerbockers were the first to play under the 'force out' rules of the game and could no longer get a base runner out by hitting or 'plugging' him with the ball. In 1859, the rules finally set guidelines that restricted the size of the bat. Baseball bats were now being restricted to 2.5 inches in diameter. Ten years later a rule stating that the length of a baseball bat could not exceed 42 inches was set in place and that rule has been the same until today.
Although, no ballplayers use a bat anywhere near that length when playing in a game. By 1890, the rules regarding a baseball bat became much more detailed stating that a bat had to be round and could no longer be sawed off; this was shortly after the first American bat making company opened up shop. Pete Browning was a player on the hometown Louisville baseball team in 1884. Attending one of the local ballgames, then 17 year old John Hillerich, who was a wood worker for his father, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat in a ballgame.
After the game, Hillerich went home to craft a replacement bat out of white ash lumber for Browning. The next game Browning went 3 for 3 causing that bat to become known unofficially as' the Louisville Slugger baseball bat'. Word traveled fast of this new creation and soon after people were paying the father and son wood workers to craft more. The Hillerich's started making baseball bats under that soon to be household name.
Honus Wagner was the first player to endorse a Louisville baseball bat by allowing his name to be engraved into the bat which is still done to this day. The bats have always been top quality and have basically been the same baseball bat over time, but are lighter weight and have thinner handles nowadays.
Louisville Slugger baseball bat reviews are normally very favorable by comparison to other baseball bat reviews. By popular demand 'Louisville Slugger' has been in business for good.

Louisville has finally responded to Easton and Demarini's multi-piece bat designs with the Louisville Slugger TPX Triton, a unique 3 piece bat. What I find amazing about this bat is the size of the barrel. This is the largest barrel I've ever seen on a baseball bat. My initial thought is this thing looks like an oak tree!
The unique 3 piece design allows the barrel and the handle to be designed and built as individual units. They are then fused together via what is called the Bubble Transition Zone. Louisville claims this makes the bat function as a more advanced one piece bat (I'll get to this claim in a second). The bat is made of 100% composite material and includes the standard Louisville stiff handle. The Adult -3 model retails for 9 and the Youth -12 at 9.
Louisville Slugger
Louisville has long promoted the benefits of the 1 piece design and stiff handle for baseball bats. The success of 2 piece bats from Easton and Demarini has finally forced them to manufacture a multi piece bat. Unfortunately, being stubborn, they won't admit to the general public that their new multi piece bat is actually a multi piece bat! They claim it's "really" a one piece bat that is fused together from 3 pieces. This is insane!!! Louisville's entire marketing department should be fired immediately.
Louisville has to either admit multi-piece bats have merit or stick to a true one piece design, we're not fools. I'm skeptical to purchase a bat for 9 when the manufacturer is telling me little white lies. What's next, saying they've developed a flex handle fused to act like a stiff handle?
Having said all this about their marketing, or lack there of, I will say that I do think the Louisville TPX Triton is a quality bat. That huge barrel makes it very appealing and it seems to hit very well. But I can not recommend it now due to some doubts about the design and its durability. At the present time I recommend the Easton IMX (Stealth or Synergy IMX) or Demarini CF3 in this category.
